People ask us all the time how long their roof should last. Depending on the material it’s made from, a roof can last twenty years or more, but your roof can be damaged or fail due to wind, hail, snow, or ice. Issues with roof vents, dry rotted pipe collars, and faulty chimney flashing can also damage roofs.
If your roof is less than twenty years old, you should see if the damage can be repaired, since you could otherwise expect another few years of usefulness. However, if you’re having significant problems and your roof is near the end of its “life”, it may be wise to invest in a new one.
